T.G.I. Friday. That have been two busy weeks and a mandatory break in the studio. Apropos studio, I thought it might be a good idea to share a rare: a Studio One by Berry Music, London.
This one seems to originate from the 60s. You may have read my notes about Gerhard Narholz from below. I'm sorry to say that no information is available about Manfred Minnich, except for his birthday which was Dec. 12th, 1923, and his much too early death at Aug. 17th, 1985. As far as I know Minnich worked with several studio orchestras in the southern counties of Germany, especially with Radio Saarbruecken.
However, Narholz and Minnich presumably must have been in good company over years as Narholz re-released a bunch of old Minnich tracks from the vaults of his Sonoton library in the 90s.
I remember Manfred Minnich and his unmistakable sound in the late 60s thru early 70s, when Radio stations all over Germany played his tunes at early morning's sunrise. Easy to understand since Minnich's scoring for strings, flutes and brass makes the very secret behind one of the most sunny and breezy sounds ever.
