Friedel Berlipp (1966)

The German catalogue on instrumental sounds is complex and multilayered. The precursor to the Now Sounds in the 60s was the crossover between classical music, jazz and instrumental pop in the late 50s. Musical creativity was mainly driven by a post war generation of creative composers and arrangers.

The type of music from this record was called "Barock Jazz" and has been produced by Friedel Berlipp and composer Jonny Teupen not to forget about the recording director Hans Georg Brunner-Schwer from SABA-Studio Villingen, Black Forrest, who later founded the famous MPS label. Credits also go to arrangers Paul Kuhn, Hans Hoetter, Harald Banter and The Barock String Quartet.

The band is comprised of the Who-is-Who from jazz: Jonny Teupen, harp, Kenny Clarke and Stuff Combe on drums, Jimmy Wood Jr. and Johnny Fischer on bass, Francis Coppieters on cembalo and Sahib Shihab on flute. Last but not least we hear Blanche Birdsong on scat vocals and remember, Blanche became first female scat voice in the late Berry Lipman Orchestra.

Yet not enough to say about. In addition, this is not only a very very rare audiophile SABA record inside but also the "Dancing Concerto" by Berry Lipman from 1974 on EMI.

Hope this might be a good addition to LoungeLegends' recent share of Paramaribo Classics and a delightful Easter Egg for everyone.
