Waldo de los Rios (1969)

Today I was very pleased to see LoungeLegends sharing some great Waldo de los Rios stuff with us. Well, let's complete this weekend Lounge Espagnole -like and remember this totally underestimated composer and arranger from Argentina who passed away at the very early age of 43 in March 1977.

His musical style is by no means characterized by The Song of Joy arrangement from 1969. Due to the half-assed nonsensitive A&R managers at the German record companies, Waldo's music never made it in Germany except for Schlager-like Miguel Rios. Shame on the German Polydor department. But that's another story coming along soon when reminiscing Bert Kaempfert.

This collection of Songs now comprises two Canadian albums (Songs of our Time & Great Movie Themes of our Time) plus a few tunes which I gathered from different compilations like e.g. Polydor's ridiculous Aranjuez mon Amour from 1972.

Now enjoy Waldo de los Rios' Pop Files which,
admittedly,
overlaps LoungeLegends' recent tributes but which hopefully helps re-emphazising the maestro's meaning to us all.
